Agriculture

Natural zeolite, especially clinoptilolite, is used mainly in agriculture, because of its high bonding capacity for ammonium, potassium and other ions.

Clinoptilolite, being of high ion exchange capacity for NH4 and K ions, is a useful additive to increase the retention capacity of nitrogen compounds in soils.

ZeoStore™ Zeolite contains approximately 3.47% potassium, 1.6% calcium and 0.4% sodium. Additionally it contains micro units of zinc, iron and copper, all of which are important nutrients in fertilizers.

Zeolite, due to its unique abilities of absorption and cation exchange, will hold the most important components for plant health and growth in its crystalline structure until the plant root seeks them.

Soil Amendment and Fertilizer
In typical nitrogen fertilizer applications, as much as 35% of the nitrogen leaches out below the growth zone and reports to the aquifer to create nitrite and nitrate contamination.

The nitrogen held by zeolite is not water-soluble and is not affected by rain even over long periods of time. Therefore much less fertilizer is needed and less fertilizer components, particularly nitrates, enter the local water supply during runoff.

The absorption capacity also provides improved soil aeration for deep rooting, improved pesticide retention and significant odor control in odoriferous areas.

Directions:
Results show that if one ton of zeolite is added to one ton soil, this ratio provides optimal zeolite utilization as soil conditioning material. Zeolite can be spread by hand broadcasting, using a manure spreader, or by other devices. Although top dressing works, generally it is better to mix the zeolite in the top 2 to 4 inches with a rototiller, spike tooth harrow, or a disc harrow.

High Value Crops

Zeolite will improve the growth of high value crops such as fruits and vegetables, as it will hold over 60% of its weight in water to protect the plants against drought.

In sandy soils where the water permeated through the growth zone to the aquifer, it will hold the water in the growth zone. The green color of the product provides natural beauty to your landscape or around individual plants where it is utilized.

ZeoStore™ Zeolite has been also successfully used for turf areas like golf courses, sport fields, parks and common areas (see Sport Fields)

Suggested Product:

Directions: for row crops such as corn or soybeans, zeolite can be applied with a side disc or by side banding. After application, the area must be irrigated, because zeolite will absorb moisture from the surrounding soil necessary for plants. For potting plants a ratio of 10-30% of zeolite to the potting soil is recommended. For landscape use or high value crop farming, a mixture of 1-2 tons per acre is usually sufficient to achieve significant improvement in performance.

Colloidal Carrier

ZeoStore™ Zeolite is a natural mineral product which, due to its large surface area and porosity, has demonstrated excellent absorptive properties. This makes it ideal as a colloidal carrier for herbicides, pesticides, and microbial products. It can be loaded with nutrients, sugar glucose, proteins, and antibiotics. The anti-caking property enhances its use as a flow agent in the delivery of many types of agricultural products.

Sport Fields

Turf Grass and Athletic Fields

ZeoStore™ zeolite's pale green color looks very attractive when placed on turf grasses. Zeolite posesses a greater retention of ammonium (NH4+) when the turf or soil is fertilized with highly soluble ammonium-based fertilizers. It also has a high capacity for water retention inside the granules, which provides space for soil aeration. The high capacity for water at 55% will aid in reducing water consumption in dry climates.
For new turf areas it is recommended that you provide 3 to 5 tons of ZeoStore™ zeolite per acre, depending upon soil cation exchange capacity and overall soil conditions. For existing turf areas, a top dressing of 1 to 2 tons per acre should be sufficient to achieve significant turf improvement.

Golf Courses

The hard crystalline characteristic of zeolite prevents compaction, increases infiltration and helps the aeration of deep root systems.

ZeoStore™ zeolite provides a large advantage to the consumer as it contains 3.4% potassium which is held in the crystalline structure where it is plant available but not water-soluble, therefore no expensive addition of potassium is required. The final product will provide a perfect balance of nitrogen and potash for turf growth.
Zeolite's pale green color will visually blend into lawns, golf greens and trees (unlike many other zeolites that are white).

Application
For the construction of new golf courses, greens and trees, lawns, gardens, or for sandy soils replace 10 to 20 % of the sand with an equal volume of ZeoStore™ zeolite. This should be applied in the top 2 to 4 inches.

For top dressing, approximately 30 to 60 pounds should be applied per 1,000 square feet or 1,200 to 2,500 pounds per acre. To enhance aerification after plugging, apply 60 to 150 pounds per 1,000 square feet or 2,500 to 6,500 pounds per acre. For existing courses, core the greens and remove the cores. Then top dress with 300lbs of zeolite per 1,000 square feet and drag the green to fill the holes.

The green color of ZeoStorez Zeolite will turn dark when wet and will beautify your greens.
